Some Things Were Never Meant to Get Lost
A Bit of Background
My fascination with this started with a family Bible that belonged to my grandmother. As I flipped through its pages, looking at old photographs and names, I wondered about the people behind them. Who were they? Where did they come from?
Why did they leave their homes and come to America? And why did they settle where they did?
When that Bible eventually made its way to my father, I started looking for answers. What began as curiosity quickly turned into a full-blown love of genealogy—and apparently, there was no turning back.
As an amateur genealogist, I love piecing together the lives behind the names and dates. To me, genealogy isn't just about building a family tree. It's about discovering the people who lived those lives—their families, struggles, adventures, occupations, choices, and the world they knew.

Research with curiosity, tell the story with respect, and never judge the people who came before us by the standards of today.
One old photograph. Three lives. Countless stories.
This is my 2nd great-grandmother and 2nd great-grandfather with their oldest child. At first glance, it's just a family portrait. But behind every face is a story of love, loss, hard work, hope, and the world they lived in.
And trust me... these two have quite a story to tell.
How we Ended up Here
Then my love of history collided with my vintage and antiques business. I began acquiring old photographs, letters, family Bibles, documents, and other artifacts that clearly belonged to someone else's family. And naturally, I started wondering: “Who are these people, and where does this belong?”
So I started researching. Sometimes the trail is easy. Sometimes it takes years, a lot of digging through records, and more than a few moments of wondering if I've completely lost my mind. But when the research leads to a direct descendant, I do my best to reunite the artifact with the family it came from.
And when I can't find a descendant after an exhaustive search, I don't simply give up and put it back on a shelf. When appropriate, I work with historical societies to place these pieces of history where they can be preserved and appreciated.
For me, the best part isn't simply finding an artifact's owner. It's discovering the story along the way—and helping families see their ancestors not just as names on a page, but as real people who lived through real times, made real choices, and left behind stories worth remembering.
